Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product?

 The writing process for my poem was difficult. I think the rough draft made it easier since I could have all my thoughts down on a page. It was also not that good in my opinion. I feel like If I had more time then it would be easier.  Summary: Wrote blog posts and read "constantly risking absurdity" Reflection: learned about poems

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

 A moment I had to step out of my comfort zone was when I had to write a poem this week. I'm not used to writing poems and since I had to finish it so soon, it was harder. Mostly making my lines rhyme when they needed to was the most difficult thing for me to accomplish. Overall I just wasn't used to writing poems so since I was inexperienced, it required me to step out of my comfort zone to learn on the spot. Summary: In class, we read through "constantly risking absurdity" Reflection: I learned how the structure in the story related to the comparison between an acrobat and poets.

Today, you had the opportunity to express yourself through poetry. Reflect on your creative writing process. What did you find most enjoyable or challenging about turning your thoughts into a poem? Did this assignment change the way you think about poetry or creative writing? Explain your experience.

 I had a really hard time coming up with words that rhyme with each other. Another challenge was making a story that made sense because the rhymes only made it more difficult. I haven't written a lot of poems in school so I don't have that skill to know what fits and what doesn't yet. Overall I think that if I had more practice I would do better. This assignment didn't really change my view on writing poems. It is still not my favorite form of writing but I can respect the people that can actually pull it off. Summary: we wrote poems with two themes, 4 literary devices, and 4 stanzas with 5 lines.  Reflection: I learned how bad I am at writing poems

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

 A time when someone's words had a lasting impact on me was when I was talking to my dad's friend. He used to love art and drawing but he gave up because other people thought it was weird at the time. He told me to not let that happen and to follow what I love doing. Now he's back into painting . I will never forget that conversation because I realized how easy it is to let other's opinions influence your life choices. Summary: We did blog posts and went to a pep rally Reflection: I learned how to fit parts of speech into a poem.

In A Worn Path, Phoenix faces several obstacles as she makes her way toward her destination, but she continues because she has an important reason for completing her journey. Think about a time when you had to travel somewhere or work through obstacles to reach a destination or goal. What challenges did you face along the way? Was the journey worth it in the end? Explain why or why not.

 The time I had to travel to reach a destination was when I wanted to walk to the store to buy cookies to sell at school. There were many different obstacles like crossing roads and cutting through bushes. It was also harder getting back with the bag because it was plastic and could get caught on the bushes. However I did make a lot of money from doing it so the journey was worth it in the end.\ Summary: we did a group activity where we compared quotes and their meanings. We then listened to each other's interpretations. Reflection: I learned how to analyze the quotes in this story and be open to other peoples interpretations of them.

 A conversation that had a lasting impact on me was a conversation with my mom. It really opened my eyes about how much she does for me and my sister. It was really impactful because it changed the way I looked at parents in general. Not everything they do is brought to light but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. Summary: started the story " A Worn Path" Reflection: I learned about how determination and love can carry you very far in life.

The title “The Life You Save May Be Your Own” suggests that helping or protecting another person may also benefit you. Describe a time when helping someone else taught you something, changed your perspective, or made a positive difference in your own life.

 A time where helping someone benefited me was when I helped a friend get into a game. I taught them how to play and everything I know. In turn, I got someone to play the game with. I also got to learn more about the game myself after going more in depth into it. Summary: Did a worksheet on the story we read yesterday. Reflection: I learned about help can become control and how that applies to the story we read.
